Original Sokos Hotel Royal is Vaasa’s largest hotel – like a small town within the city. Aiming to be the most vivid hotel complex on the entire West Coast, the hotel was renovated with energy efficiency in mind: the rooms of the tower building are heated with geothermal and solar energy. Our design reflects the sunny, joyful, and energetic spirit of Vaasa.

The energetic atmosphere is already present at the entrance: the lobby ceiling is lit by a summer’s day sky and the space is decorated with a unique light installation. In the hotel rooms, the ceilings are dazzling with the color of the evening sky, different shades of yellow and the panels are decorated with a rising sun illustration. Light-colored surfaces give room for unique patterns that are repeated in various surfaces: in woven fabrics made locally in Lapua, in printed carpets, wallpapers and so on. All patterns we designed just for this hotel. The customer experience is crowned by Jenni Rope’s art, which extends from the lobby to the 139 hotel rooms.
