What we did
Furniture Design
Durability, practicality, and beauty – with these three simple adjectives, we would love to characterize this collection of visitor furniture crafted by master carpenters for the residence of Finland’s most significant cultural benefactor, Amos Anderson. Now transformed into a museum, Anderson’s 1920s home provides a captivating glimpse into Amos Anderson’s distinctive personality and interests.
The important themes of Amos’s life, such as culture, the Middle Ages, Catholicism, and church architecture, became the wellspring of inspiration for our furniture design. In deliberate contrast to the extraordinary 1920s home, the design also mirrors Amos’s modest childhood in Kemiö island. The materials used include solid ash, sisal, and brass.
